Trembling Hands – Explosions In The Sky

18 Apr

An instrumental track for today, haven’t had one of those in a while. Trembling Hands is the first single that was released off of Explosions In The Sky’s most recent project entitled Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. Guess what? The album is actually out TODAY. So head on over to the website to take a listen to it, but here’s Trembling Hands:

This song gets me excited for the album. It has the classic Explosions In The Sky guitar riffs, and the chords that are just in another world. It also marks the first time I’ve ever heard the band use any trace of vocals on their tracks, although I’m told they’ve done it before. I’m really interested to see where this goes, and how it works on the new album because it worked out incredibly well for bands like Hammock. Anyways, definitely go check out the album, and here’s an awesome fan video of a live performance:

Your Hand In Mine – Explosions In The Sky

13 Aug

One thing you’ll learn about me is that I love a good instrumental rock song. Your Hand In Mine is one of my favourites, and one of my favourite songs of all time. This song was actually in the movie Friday Night Lights, which coincidentally perhaps (or not) is one of my favourite movies of all time. Make of it what you will.

This song is almost too incredible for me to write about. First off, it’s about 8 minutes long, so it’s quite a journey. You may not like it if you get impatient easily, but it is insanely beautiful.

Atmospheric guitars and well thought out drums in my opinion make this song what it is. The end gets unbelievably stirring, and I actually think the movie used it perfectly. It’s one of the only movies where I get  a lump in my throat, so kudos to them.

Explosions In The Sky are a great band, and if you’re into instrumental rock, I’d encourage you to check them out, because they are actually almost like an icon to the genre. Also, I’d recommend you watch the movie.

Check out their official website for more info.

I’ve been dying to see them live because I feel like it’d be an insane show, but haven’t been able to so far. Here’s the best live performance of the song I could find. Enjoy:
