We Owned The Night (Cover) – fun.
12 JulWasn’t it funny when Gary from Take That and Cheryl from Cheryl Cole sang a Lady Antebellum song at the Jubilliethingymabob? Really sweet but . . . unexpected. Anyway, I’ve been featuring a lot of live sessions recently so decided to steamroll on. fun. is one of the my favourite bands of like, ever and I’m dying/praying/hoping against hope to see them this summer. Somehow. Somewhere. They’re fantastic creators of music but their covers are so very good. Here’s their cover of Lady Antebellum’s We Owned The Night. It’s superb. Superbly superb (heat’s getting to me). There’s an acoustic version of All The Pretty Girls after the jump. Lucky you:
The Re-Arranger – Mates Of State
7 JulI’m back. And I’m back fucking hate all things pop. 24-7 Tulisa is enough to drive anyone to such a conclusion to be honest. So now you have to deal with me indulging in my one and only musical love – the (moderately) obscure. Continue reading
Sweet Thing – Van Morrison
26 JunOnce in a while I love to bring out a golden oldie. Van Morrison is one of those guys whose albums sit in my iPod, but I tend to ignore them whenever I scroll past them because they’ve been there for so long. Well, you can thank shuffle for reminding me of how much of a sweet thing Sweet Thing is. “Van the Man” is the man in every sense of the word. Take a listen to this absolute classic.
Chocolate – The 1975
13 JunWe are way too busy right now to look for new music. Instead you get to enjoy the best music we have (but have had for a while). Continue reading
Somebody That I Used To Know – fun.
17 May
sun. sun. sun.
Double time! My favourite band of the year (?) have covered the stand-out hit from 2012, Somebody That I Used To Know. You might’ve heard it. It’s everywhere. Also everywhere: fun.’s We Are Young. Below are the results of mixing two of the biggest artists of 2k12:
Shake It Out – Glee Cast
8 MayI really like Florence +/&/and The Machine but I don’t think I ever really talk about her all that much on the website. I don’t quite know why that is, so here’s a list of other artists I really enjoy but talk about all that much: Snoop Dogg, Hanson and Taylor Swift. Anyway, one of my favourite Florence songs was covered on Glee this week! Pretty exciting. Even better is that it was a beautiful arrangement and featured Tina! Tina never gets songs! Glory, glory, glory. There’s a seriously spoilery musician in the background between Santana and Tina whose smile almost steals this song:
Full, unedited song after the jump (but minus Santana- sad face):
Woodkid’s Teenage Dream
4 MayFriday! Thank goodness. Here’s some exposition about Woodkid: His real name is Yoann Lemoine, he’s a french music video director and artist. He’s directed videos for Katy Perry (Teenage Dream), LDR (Born To Die) and Drake (Take Care.) I kinda want to be him. He’s released an album called Iron, which currently resides in my Amazon basket. He performed Videogames with LDR, live:
Freakin’ cute (how adorable is LDR’s giggle after the wolf-whistle?) Here’s his rendition of Teenage Dream.
Teenage Dream – Kelsie Rimmer
20 AprHave you been watching The Voice? I haven’t but that’s purely my memory’s fault and not BBC’s. It always seem to be on earlier than I think and I never remember next week. I know, I know, series link but I don’t need another television show in my life right now. Anyway, I was Tumblring the other day and found this little gem. A contestant from The Voice Australia singing Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. This is probably one of my favourite love (?) songs of all time, and Rimmer’s rendition is ah-muz-ing. Take a lookedy-look after the jump:
Florence Unplugged
19 Apr
Flo-rida. Two totally unrelated artists. She's also not from Florida. They just sounded the same, okay?
Coincidenceville: I was going to post this yesterday but then I heard the new Flo-Rida track and moved this to today (obviously) and they’re both called Flo, you guys! Also, a peril of using the word ‘coincidenceville’ (obviously not a word) is that spell check doesn’t offer you a suggestion for ‘coincidence’ as it doesn’t recognise the ‘-ville. That’s fine but I always misspell coincidence, making my use of slang especially risky. I also just misspelt ‘misspell’ so that’s irony (kinda? Not really) for you. Anyway, I once saw a really sweet video interview between Katy Perry and Florence (hey! I found it) that I really enjoyed. Watch and learn, kids. Watch and learn. Below:
