I Just Wanna Be – Born Blonde

15 May

Not often is it that I get to say “I’m good friends with the person in that band.” Sadly, this is not one of those times. The closest I’ve gotten is befriending Born Blonde’s lead singer’s sister, who may herself have a music career in the cards. I know, some families just get all the talent while others make websites talking about how incredible they are. It’s just the way the world works.

Nobodies – Lil Kids

14 May

Been a little bit since I updated my rap music. I decided to do a little digging, and up popped Nobodies by Lil Kids, a nice track that wouldn’t feel out of place playing while you’re putting an evil undercover plan. That’s why it now holds a place on my most important iTunes playlist of all. My ‘Music for a heist’ playlist (yes, it exists).

Take A Walk – Passion Pit

10 May

I admire Passion Pit because they seemed to storm onto the scene with their own kind of genre. They had synths, drum kits, great vocals, and just a knack for creating a melody that would pester you all day and wouldn’t let you go a minute without humming it. Here’s their latest song from their upcoming album Gossamer.

You’re A God – Vertical Horizon

8 May

Everyone should know this song. It will do you no harm to treat yourself to a skyrocketing confidence level when you hear lead singer Matt Scannell tell you that “you’re a god.” I’ll happily put it on and revel in my unprecedented levels of extreme awesome. You should do the same, because if you regularly visit this website, I know you’re awesome.

Fall for Your Type (feat. Drake) – Jamie Foxx

4 May

You see it has Drake in the title and you know it’s me. I just love him. There I said it. While rappers like Rick Ross come out with audacious and impractical declarations such as “I’ve got a chopper in the car,” I prefer Drake’s more heartfelt verses about his actual life experiences. Combine that with Jamie Foxx’s beautiful floating voice and you have something special.

a2 – Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm (Max Cooper Remix)

3 May

Okay so the other day I stumbled upon something really, really beautiful. No, not Mila Kunis (although I can still dream). I was paddling around and surfing our beloved internet when I discovered a quite frankly gorgeous Max Cooper remix.

Summers Down – Blue Boats

1 May

I can almost feel/taste/smell/see/hear summer. All I need is a summer song to make me feel like I’m actually there. Summers Down is a rich-in-reverb number that will undoubtedly convince you that summer is on its way (despite relentless torrential downpours in London right now).

Pony – Ginuwine

26 Apr

It’s my birthday today!! That’s right, I am finally allowed to drink and go clubbing legally. It is somewhat ironic/annoying that when I go to college in Chicago next year both of these things will immediately become illegal again until I reach the ripe old age of 21. If you know this song, you might think it’s an inappropriate one to  feature on my birthday. In fact, you might think it’s inappropriate to feature at all. Continue reading

Orifice Origami – Reptar

25 Apr

16 pages of English notes. “Holy crap!” I hear you yell from behind your computer screen. Yep, that’s a lot of notes to do in one night. You are perhaps, fortunate that my procrastination has reached the stage where I will provide you with new music, before I go elsewhere in search of thrills on this beautiful internet. Learn To Crawl – Black Lab

19 Apr

Don’t type Black Lab into Google. All you get are search results about puppies. I guess that kind of sums up Black Lab’s unfortunate fall from reasonable grace. When I say ‘reasonable grace,’ I mean featuring on the Spiderman soundtrack, which is where I heard this song, which explains why it’s called Learn To Crawl, which was (perhaps unsurprisingly) played in the part of the movie where Spiderman learns to crawl, which is cool.
