Well and truly back from holidaying off in far-flung countries now. Here’s some real nice chilled jazzy hip-hop for you today. If you don’t know Slum Village, you’ll thank me for this introduction. They’re just three guys who grew up together in Detroit and went to the same school every day and started rapping together. They gradually grew more and more popular on Detroit’s underground hip-hop scene and eventually ‘made it.’
This song, Fall In Love was released in 2000 off of their album Fantastic, Vol. 2. It’s a nice relaxed beat and a chilled out bass. The guys really rap well over it, and some of it’s even pretty funny. Definitely makes the (reasonably long) list of Slum Village’s great songs. R.I.P. J Dilla and Baatin.
